Have you ever turned up in a megacity and decided that you would not book accommodation? We hadn’t either until we arrived in Tokyo. But after hearing about the DVD rooms and Manga Cafes that double up as accommodation for stranded train travellers we just had to try it. Could there be anything more Japanese than sleeping in a manga cafe?
We decided to book our manga cafe in the area of Roppongi as it was a Saturday night when we arrived in Tokyo and that’s the party area. We left our luggage at Tokyo Train station which has a whole floor the size of a small city full of lockers. It was wise to do this as you don’t get much room in your booth at the manga cafe.
Did we sleep well? Not really but it was worth missing a night’s sleep for the experience alone.
