One of the reasons why we find it hard to leave London is the amazing food scene. This world city is full of cuisine from all corners of the globe. We take for granted that we can eat delicious Vietnamese, Spanish, Peruvian or Moroccan food all within a few days (or one day if you are greedy!). So here is our list of the best food markets in London. Just remember don’t buy everything you see! (We are talking from experience).
Broadway Market
Table of Contents
Broadway Market has become a proper east-end institution. It has over 100 stalls selling everything from chicken wings to Scottish Toasties (from Deeney’s which used to be our local in Leyton). Throw in addictive brownies, a german deli and vegan pancakes and what you have is the perfect Saturday!
Broadway Market Information:
- Opening Hours: Saturday – 09:00 – 17:00
- Nearest Station: London Fields
Greenwich Market
This was one of the first markets I visited when I first moved to London. Even though it is known for antique and craft stalls this 200-year-old market also has over 40 street food vendors. You will find Indian street food, Ethiopian Vegetarian Cuisine and Caribbean Rum Cake.

Brixton Village & Market Row
The first time we visited Brixton Village Market we jumped with glee when we discovered a place selling Japanese okonomiyaki. We can’t get enough of these delicious Japanese pancakes so Brixton Village Market soon became a regular hangout. You will also find French cheese, bbq meats and great Mexican food.
Brixton Village & Market Row Information:
- Opening Hours: Monday, 8:00-18:00; Tuesday-Sunday, 8:00-23.30
- Nearest Station: Brixton Tube Station
Berwick Street Market
Whenever I am in Soho (which a lot) I always have to pop to Berwick Street Market. This market has been serving Londoners for the past 300 years. It has the type of stalls that make you want to buy even if you have just eaten lunch. There are no seats, this is a grab and go type of market. Choices range from Paella, Jerk chicken, salads and Greek cuisine.
Berwick Street Market Information:
- Opening Hours: Monday – Saturday, 08:00 – 18:00
- Nearest Station: Oxford Circus or Tottenham Court Road
Camden Market
Good old Camden Market, the market that would not look out of place on a planet in Star Wars. I have been visiting Camden Market for over 20 years and it has changed a lot in that time, especially the food scene. To be honest, 20 years ago the food scene wasn’t great, think cheap noodles with sweet sickly sauce but now the food scene at Camden Market is great. From vegan street food to alfresco cafes there is enough choice for everyone. Just remember to get there early, especially on Saturdays as it can get very busy.
Camden Market Information:
- Opening Hours: Every Day, 10:00 – Till Late
- Nearest Station: Camden Station
Borough Market
Borough Market is the mother of all food markets in London. Serving the people of Southwark for over 1,000 years (making it London’s oldest food market), Borough Market is foodie heaven where you will find hundreds of stalls selling everything from spit roast pig to Ethiopian stews. Yes, it gets busy with tourists and locals alike but if you turn up early you can beat the queues. Try to go in the week as it is a lot quieter. Remember to come with an empty stomach, you will eat a lot. Once I ate a chorizo breakfast, venison burger, two oysters and a pie all before lunch!
Borough Market Information:
- Opening Hours: Monday-Thursday, 10:00- 17:00; Friday 10:00-18:00; Saturday 8:00-17:00
- Nearest Station: London Bridge Station
Chatsworth Road Market
Chatsworth Road Market is a Sunday market that has street food along with antiques, crafts and everyday household goods. It began in the 1930s with over 200 stalls but sadly the market closed down in the 1990s. Thanks to a campaign by local residents the market returned in 2010 so yeay to people power! Among the food vendors, you will find the Pie Cart, Souvlaki Street, Hanoi Kitchen and Deeney’s (Scottish toasties).
Chatsworth Road Market Information:
- Opening Hours: Sunday, 11:00 – 16:00
- Nearest Station: Homerton Station

Bang Bang Oriental
Great name for a food market wouldn’t you say? I bet most of you have never heard of this place that is because it is not situated in a handy central London location but in Colindale. There is seating for 450 people and as well as amazing Asian food stalls there are shops, events and shows. Get out there and see more of London.
