Riding on the Trans Siberian Railway has to be one of travels greatest journeys. It is certainly one of the highlights of our travels so far. If you ever have the chance to travel long distance by train, take it. It is the best way to travel. You don’t have to worry about excess baggage fees, jet-lag or cramped seats. Plus it is the most social way to travel. On every train journey we took we ended up chatting to the people near us. That rarely happens on planes.
In the vlog below we have been chatting for 2 days! The video was taken during our longest stint on the train (just under 60 hours). I am sharing a room with a lovely Russian family who were on their way back to their home in Siberia. We created this nightly ritual where at 18:00 on the dot we would open the vodka and sit and tell stories. It was really wonderful. At 22:00, the vodka would be put away and we would make tea. The perfect Russian / English mix!
The clip is short and sometimes a bit dark (I was drinking neat Vodka so please give me some slack.)
