Travel book of the week: Once while travelling

Great reads: Travel books we’ve read and loved

There’s quite a good chance that somewhere on your book shelf there’s a blue Lonely Planet book. We’ve accumulated quite a few of these as you can see :)

Our book shelves

So we were quite excited to find out that there was a book that told the story of Tony and Maureen Wheeler, founders of the Lonely Planet guide books. We saved it to read when we first started our travels and it was just the perfect book to get us in the mood to see the world.

The book is an interesting and entertaining tale that will take you through the journey from the birth of their first quirky guide-book that grew into a multi-million dollar empire. It’s a fantastic read full of adventures and honest accounts of the challenges they, and their marriage faced as they built the Lonely Planet empire. This is one of those books that had me reading up to the early hours of the morning because I just couldn’t put it down. If you fancy a bout of travel and entrepreneurial inspiration then put this great book on your list.
